I hope everyone is having a fun Independence Day. I, for one, am forever grateful that my two grandfathers made the trip in their respective ships and landed at Ellis Island, thus giving their descendants the wonderful gift of living in the land of freedom and opportunity.
When I am abroad, I describe America as a place where all races and nationalities come together under one constitution, a place where we strive to live up to our ideals of justice and liberty, and give everybody a chance to succeed through hard work.
She is not perfect, but for today, I want to say, “Thank you, America.” I have posted some patriotic videos for your enjoyment.

In Great Britain, two days after September 11, in a break with the long-standing usual procedures at Buckingham Palace, the Queen ordered the Changing of the Guard to be paused for a two-minute silence, followed by the playing of the American national anthem. This video still brings tears to my eyes.
